LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of the course, students will:
Understand the fundamental attributes of timber and how it reacts to the weather
Identify the components of a decking structure
Know how to choose the correct materials to satisfy a decking specification
Appreciate the tools required to construct a decking platform
Know how to connect timber correctly
Set out a decking structure in accordance with EC5
Understand planning permission pertaining to decking in a domestic situation
Appreciate building regulations regarding step construction
Understand the limitations of laying out posts, beams and joists.
Identify the correct post, beam, joist and decking spans to EC5 standards
Follow the decking guidelines promulgated by the Association of Professional Landscapers
Demonstrate the practically ability to correctly build a decking structure

Lunch is not included, we recommend you bring your own packed lunch for each day

There is currently no accommodation available at Lower End Farm for TASK students. There are plenty of local accommodation possibilities, please contact us for a range of options.
