Willow Weaving 1 day course
Course Overview
Learn how to make and weave a large obelisk Plant Support for growing sweet peas or climbing beans. These creative, rustic and natural willow plant supports will add structure to your garden. We will be using strong willow rods for the uprights and weaving a spiral from base to tip following traditional techniques. You will also learn how to make a lovely willow bird feeder to contain fat balls as a warm up, using a variety of willow.
Willow weaving is one of the oldest and traditional of handicrafts which has recently gained a new lease of life. People of all ages enjoy willow weaving – it’s a fantastic creative opportunity to have a go with expert tutor Mel and take home a willow creation hand made by you!
This willow weaving course is suitable for those that have had a go at willow weaving before as well as complete novices. The group size is limited to 10 to ensure individual tuition time.

About our Willow Artist
Mel Bastier is a willow artist and basket maker, specialising in creating large scale sculpture.
She has created many installations including commissions for the BBC, Royal Horticultural Society and the National Trust. Mel is passionate about sharing the traditional skills associated with willow craft through quality instruction and empathetic support.
Mel provides fun and creative willow weaving workshops; basketmaking, sculpture, garden structures, living willow, willow coffins and more.
What to bring
All materials will be provided, but please bring your own secateurs.
Please dress appropriately for the weather as we will be spending some of the day outside (please bring waterproof gear)

Lunch is not included, we recommend you bring your own packed lunch for each day
You will receive an automated email from our order system to confirm your booking.
One month before the date of the course, you will receive a course confirmation email with further information and course joining instructions which includes what to bring with you.
There is currently no accommodation available at Lower End Farm for TASK students. There are plenty of local accommodation possibilities, please contact us for a range of options.
Participants are required to have a minimum level 2 in English and Maths.
