WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
All about the various types of brick used for different applications such as sizes, damp proof courses, facing bricks and copings.
How to create different bonding patterns
Tools used in bricklaying and explain how they are used
Installing footings and the relationship between the size/type of wall and the width/depth of the footings
Risk assessment for building a brick wall
Maintaining verticals/horizontals and (nominal) 10mm joints
Setting a line and level for a wall using a builders line
Understanding a bricklaying mix and how they are used
Create a suitable mortar mix for laying bricks and concrete blocks
Construct a 0.9m long (4 bricks), 2 blocks and 3-course high, whole-brick wall in a bond of your choice with a 1-brick return at one end
Demonstrate pointing finishes.

There is currently no accommodation available at Lower End Farm for TASK students. There are plenty of local accommodation possibilities, please contact us for a range of options.
Participants are required to have a minimum level 2 in English and Maths.
